There are methods of organizing a speech. These methods are necessary in order to develop a good speech. These methods are; selecting the speech subject, gathering the speech materials, making an outline, developing the introduction or exordium, organizing the discussion, discovering and using supporting materials and developing the conclusion.

The first thing to do in organizing a speech is the selection of the subject. The speech subject is what the speaker wanted to say to his or her audience. In here, the speaker must consider some factors such as the audience social status, behavior and many else. It is also important to consider the type of occasion in which the speech is subject to be delivered.

Gathering the speech materials is the next thing. Gathering materials includes acquiring information that could be necessary to be able to add substance to a speech. References like books, magazines, encyclopedia or the internet might be use.

The next is making the outline. Having the speech outline could be beneficial; this is done to be able to organize the information or the points that the speaker wanted to tell to the audience.

Developing an introduction or exordium is another factor. This is one of the important parts of the speech since this is the first part. Here, the speaker goes to make his or her audience in the receptive moods and so that they will be interested.

In organizing the discussion, the speaker should organize his or her speech as what he or she likes to deliver. He might choose what type of development the body of the speech would have; it could be narrative, expository, argumentative or descriptive. It should also be remembered that a speech has three parts namely; the introduction, the body and the conclusion. The introduction is the part of speech that prepares the body; the body serves as the meat of the speech or the real content while the conclusion serves to close the speech.

Next is the discovering and using supporting materials. Here, the speaker might use illustrations, statistics, analogy or comparison, testimony, restatement and repetition, explanation, deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning in order to explain further his or her points.

The last one is developing the conclusion; this is one of the important parts since this is the last time that the speaker speaks to the audience. This will also give emphasis to the final impression of the whole speech.
