Some people used to take part in an argument. In here they can expressed their own idea, feelings, opinions and thought about the subject matter. With argumentation, they can present their own points of views based from their individual reasons as well as from their individual experiences. There are many people who take part into an argumentation without having the basic knowledge on its construction.

Perhaps what is argumentation and what are its basic parts? According to Rottenberg (1988), an argumentation is often thought as a way to persuade others aiming to accept our opinions. The arguments serve as the relation or connection between the evidence that is presented and the conclusion that was reached.

There are three parts of argumentation namely; the claim also called as proposition, the support and the warrant. All of these parts have their specific functions inside the argument.

The claim or the proposition is the part of argumentation that answers the questions. Claim or proposition comes in three principal kinds namely; claims of fact, claims of value and claims of policy.

The claim of fact is the kind of claim that asserts that a certain condition has proven to be existed, still existing or will exist in the future. These conditions should be based on data or facts in which the audience or readers will accept or these conditions are being objectively verifiable.

The claim of value is the kind of claim that is considered as an attempt to prove that a particular thing is more desirable or less desirable than the other things. This claim tries to convince the readers or audience with their approval or disapproval in line with the standards of taste or morality.

The claim of policy is the kind of claim that assert of the implementation of a particular policy believing that the said policy will going to solve a particular problem.

The support is one of the parts of arguments which consists materials that can be used in order to convince the audience or the listeners that the particular claim or claims have basis. By its name, the support is used to support the claim or claims in an argument.

The warrant is the part of argument that guarantees the soundness between the relationship of the support and the claim. The warrant is a kind of inference or assumptions which establishes the connection or relevancy between the support part and the claim part. Warrants may be stated or unstated depending upon the arguer's needs. It is uneccessary to express warrants if the arguer fells that the audience believes on the claims he or she had made. It is necessarry to express warrants if he or she feels that the audience is doubtful or hostile in the claims that was being presented.
